The Nørreport Bike Stand is designed to optimize the use of space in connection with bicycle parking. The bicycle stands were originally developed for Nørreport Station in Copenhagen. The characteristic feature of the Nørreport Bike Stand is the slim pillar and the bicycle brackets made in one piece bent into a V-shape. The stand is available with one or two brackets and with the option of mounting either a solar lamp, an uplight or a simple closed cap at the top. The brackets can be used for all ordinary bicycle tires and do not damage lights mounted on the wheels. The double-bracket stands are space-saving, because the wheels of parked bicycles overlap.

The best use of the area is obtained when the bicycle stands are placed close together, at a distance of 450–475 mm and turned 45 degrees. Besides stainless steel, the bike stand also comes in other materials such as galvanized steel and powder painted steel, in an array of
different colours.

At Nørreport Station, the bike stands are made of stainless steel, and the many solar lamps on top of the bike stands light up when it gets dark, looking like a row of a thousand stars, while uplights on other bike stands illuminate the underside of the cloud-shaped bike covers

Nørreport Station

Nørreport Station is the busiest train station in Denmark, with more than 250,000 people passing through it daily. Since the 1960s, the bustling station developed into a vast and chaotic intersection in the middle of the city. The new station is composed of a series of rounded, floating roofs, mounted on distinctive glass pavilions. A study of pedestrians’ preferred routes formed the basis of the station’s new design, providing an open and welcoming public space with specific consideration for the needs of cyclists and pedestrians. Nørreport Station is not only a station but an urban landscape for people. It transforms Copenhagen’s busiest space into a single unified flow and becomes an integrated part of the pulsating city around it.
