COBE exhibits at the 5th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR)
In the ?parallel cases? program of the IABR, COBE exhibits first findings of an ongoing research conducted in collaboration with Berlin University of Technology and the Department for Urban Development of the City of Berlin ? the Spacious City Model. The spacious city model is a contribution to the 3rd International Building Exhibition - IBA Berlin 2020. Intoxicated by IBA?s concept of ?City Capital?, more than 1000 Voids of Berlin ? underused sites, residual spaces, and more than 200 large empty buildings ? all of which have a tremendous potential with view to a more sustainable development, were mapped. The data collected and shown in the model and a catalogue contributed to a wide public debate about the main issues in urban development in Berlin. The exhibition shows, how the model was made, which information it contains and scenes from debates in and around the model. The IABR will run 19 April ? 25 August 2012 at the NAI (The Netherlands Architecture Institute) in Rotterdam. See more information about the exhibition here
